Harry Potter Characters

Prelude

The first book of Harry Potter which is written by the infamous J.K.Rowling is the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This book premieres the main character Harry Potter who discovers that he is a wizard. Through his journey to the school of wizards, Harry makes different friends and few enemies who in one way or the other influence and helps him in his journey as a wizard. Harry Potter is a young orphan boy with black hair and gaunt body size who had no hint of his wizardry abilities. He is significantly identified with his eye glasses. He was brought to the comfort of his last known family “The Dursley” yet he was not treated right and denied of all the good things life has to offer, until one day on his 11th birthday he found out something that made a drastic change in his life. He discovered that he was a wizard and he went on his way to his journey as a wizard.

The Day of the Dark Wizard Attack – Lord Voldermort

On his first year, Lord Voldermort, the Dark Wizard and the Leader of the Death Eaters killed his mother, Lily Potter and father, James Potter. The Evil Wizard also tries to kill Harry Potter and use a curse but because of a mother’s love, the young is not hurt rather the curse bounces back to Lord Voldermort. This left a scar on Harry Potter’s face. Just looks like a lightning bolt-shaped scar.  And leaving the body of Voldermort dead but his soul is still alive. Eventually, Lord Voldermort was reborn and he creates his own army to kill the Muggels, those wizards and witches without a wizardry origin.  Their purpose is to purify the world of wizards by eliminating these Muggels so it would only be the pure blooded wizards and witches left.

Harry Potter Characters and Roles Abidance – (Potter and Dursley)

Harry Potter Characters Harry Potter has stupendous innate talent for Quidditch. It is a sport played by the witches and wizards in the world of magic which can be comparable to soccer. There are two teams that play the game; each is made up of seven players. The game works in a way that each of the wizard players will be riding and flying magical broomsticks. The Quidditch sport includes the use of four balls instead of one and three goals in a form of a circle which are elevated and positioned on each side of the field.  To play the game, the wizards need to shoot the balls into the three rings. Harry Potter has the ability to manipulate or sway his friends through his passionate speeches. Petunia Dursley, Harry’s aunt and Lily Potter’s sister who took care of Harry when he was left orphaned after his parent’s death. She is described as a “lean woman with a long neck” that she utilizes to look on any fuss about her neighbor’s lives. Petunia did not accept her sister, Lily as the latter has magical power. She thinks that Lily was a freak so she pretended that her sister never existed.

Her husband is Vernon Dursley, Harry’s uncle who has a grumpy bluster about anything that makes him a small-minded man. He is a heavily-built man and just fears for anything not common. Their one and only child is Dudley Dursley, the cousin to Harry Potter. He weighs and appears older than his age and definitely a spoiled brat who loves bullying Harry.

Weasley Lineage

George and Fred Weasley are identical twins who are stunningly brilliant Quidditch players and receive good remarks in School even though they are notably the school’s comedians. Ron Weasley, one the main characters is the younger brother of the two Weasleys. Ron is described as a “real true best friend” because he is ever ready to extend a helping hand to whoever needs help.  The low point about Ron is his low self esteem in being the best because of his two older brother’s great achievements and fame that they receive. However, Ron Weasley has one astounding skill and courage in the chess game. He has the ability to use his brilliance in this game when Harry needs to surpass this test in order to go through the journey in getting the Philosopher’s stone.

The Third Main Protagonist – Hermione

The third main character in the story that completes the group of Harry and Ron is Hermione Granger. She came from an all Muggle family with an imperious character. She has in depth knowledge on almost everything as she has good memorization skills and quick witted girl. She is identified as a good character, virtuous and very sensible who is scared of failure and as a result, she is weighed down by a lot of insecurities. Because of her ethical character Hermione tried to sway Harry and Ron from trouble though she became their very close friend after the two boys helped her from the mountain troll that attacked her in the bathroom. Hermione’s very logical and magical skills play a very important factor in searching for the Philosopher’s stone.

Supporting Characters

There are other numerous characters that aid in the building of the plot of the story. One of the supporting characters who stand out is Draco Malfoy, who is a conceited slender pale boy who utters in a slowly prolonged manner. He is always trying to make a point that he is the best in Quidditch because he has great skills in playing the game. He dislikes Muggels and those wizards and witches who do not share or agree on his views. The parents of Draco supported the evil wizard, Voldermort but altered to a different side when the latter was gone. Draco doesn’t want any direct confrontation and always wanted to get Harry and friends into fret.

Neville Longbottom is an overweight bashful boy and very forgetful. His magical skills are not strong and just came about when he was 8 years old just in time for his need to save his life. He will fight if he is encourage and when he thinks it is the right and relevant thing to do even if he is fearful.
